Roundabouts to Cambridge

In spite of the rainy weather we had a nice day in Cambridge and spent some time at Kings College visiting he chapel. It's the iconic photo of Cambridge and did justice to its reputation.

It was about an hour's drive to Cambridge on country lanes and I don't recall a single stop sign or traffic light. The flow of traffic is brilliantly controlled by roundabouts. There is only one rule to remember--yield to the traffic on the right.  It becomes a subconscious behavior after awhile and works consistently. I wonder why it hasn't caught on in the states. It's pretty popular in Spain and Portugal, too.  It's more of a hassle for pedestrians, as we found out walking the Camino.
